What the Cowlitz Tribe is proposing

The Cowlitz Tribe has proposed taking nearly 152 acres of rural Clark County land into trust for the purpose of developing a large-scale casino-resort. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) outlines a preferred alternative including:

  • a 134,150-square-foot gaming floor with 3,000 video lottery terminals (slots), 135 gaming tables and 20 poker tables
  • a 250 room hotel—150,480 square feet
  • 165,000 square feet for retail
  • 130,825 square feet for 10 restaurants plus bars/entertainment (not including kitchens, pantries and support)
  • 85,000 square feet of convention space
  • a 62,500-square-foot multipurpose center that would seat 5,000
  • two parking garages with a total of 5,500 stalls
  • valet parking for 1,750 vehicles
  • an RV park with 200 spaces
  • tribal offices and a cultural center
  • 16 housing units for tribal elders
  • Wastewater treatment plant

To view the entire proposal, see the DEIS, which was released in April 2006.
